We're delighted to announce the release of version 5.0 of the MacKichan family of programs: Scientific Word, Scientific WorkPlace and Scientific Notebook. Some of the most exciting new features are below:

(Barry MacKichan writes):
With Version 5, customers can share the work they do in our products with others much more easily. New features in Version 5 include:

  2. Create typeset PDF files with PDF LaTeX (SW and SWP)
  3. Convert the graphics in your documents to formats PDF LaTeX can process (SW and SWP)
  4. Use previously unsupported LaTeX PostScript packages, such as the Rotate and the PostScript font packages (SW and SWP)
  5. Expanded edition of Typesetting Documents in Scientific WorkPlace and Scientific Word (SW & SWP)
  6. Improved HTML document export, with mathematics exported as graphics or as MathML (all products)
  7. New international shell documents for using Omega and Lambda, the Unicode versions of TEX and LaTeX used in international typesetting (SW & SWP)

In addition, the registration process has been made easier, and is now almost completely automatic. We expect this to reduce significantly customer confusion about registration.
